Another Game Podcast?! Please.

Gattacast is a new video game podcast launching very soon. There is no shortage of video game podcasts out there, so why would we go through the trouble to start another one?

For one, video games are one of our favorite forms of entertainment, and we simply want to talk about them. Most of my friends share many of my other passions in life, and will engage me in great conversations. However, I have few gaming friends and desire a forum for that discussion. We hope that Gattacast will be able to tap into the local Twin Cities gaming community a bit, and we’ll meet more people that love video games.

Secondly, many podcasts seem to use a very common format. Gattacast will be less about video game news (like many others), and more about the games we are playing in depth. We also will feature great music from video games in every episode. Furthermore, we will have a feature section in each podcast that will be a new topical discussion, game, or theme that has some relation to video games.

The third reason for a new podcast is to get a little more into some of the philosophy that goes into and comes out of video games. This may sound very pretentious, but most other mediums, like literature or film, provide opportunities to address issues that provoke deeper thought. As video games mature in themes and storytelling some thoughtful commentary of their implications should be discussed.

We hope to release a new episode every two weeks. Keep an eye or subscribe to the blog, follow me on Twitter, or subscribe on iTunes to keep up to date. Thanks!

Got your link from the Tech Tribe Meetup. Listening to cast right now. I would suggest that you get a message board/forum to build a community and or following.
